Commissions. Whether it is a family portrait or recreating something similar to a painting that has sold, I’d be happy to paint a piece that is a unique and personal addition to your collection.

How do I commission you to paint something just for me?

After you contact me, I will set up an appointment with you to talk about specifics: size, colors, timing, media, and anything else you feel is important. I will also have a list of questions that will help me determine the price and schedule for your painting.

Do you paint in person or from photographs?

I prefer to meet my subject if possible and take my own photos in the location of your choice. In the finishing stages of the portrait, I hope to have a final sitting to put the last touches on your painting.

What is your typical schedule for working on a commissioned portrait?

  • First, we will have a phone appointment to discuss your project.

  • I will then put together an estimate and timeline for your painting.

  • Once approved, we will schedule a photo session in your chosen location.

  • We will then go over my photo selections and/or preliminary sketches.

  • After our approval meeting of the sketch or photo, it usually takes about 4 weeks to complete.

  • We will then have the final sitting for the finishing touches. This should take no more than 2-3 hours.

  • Delivery depends on the drying time of the media used.

Will I be able to make changes?

Of course! I want you to be completely happy with your painting and will work with you to make sure you are pleased. Every commissioned painting includes one round of revisions at no charge.

What is the cost of a commissioned painting?

There are several variables in determining the price: size, media, and framing. Shipping and taxes are also a consideration. I am happy to discuss all of these options in our initial meeting.

When do I pay you?

After our initial phone meeting, and on approval of the cost estimate, I require a deposit of 25%. Upon approval of the photos or sketch, the second 25% will be due. The remaining 50% is due upon completion and delivery.
