ROSE BEGINS WITH A BEE
Art6 (Alison Paul, Maite Agahnia, Bronle Crosby, Brenda York, Theresa Vandenberg Donche) posing with TAKES TWO TO TANGO oil on canvas, 30" x 36” in its home at the Hacienda, at Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa.
This painting began when I decided to paint the birds and the bees. In this case, I know darned well which came first: neither chicken nor egg, but the bee, then roses– pollen then flower. I got to see it again on the day of my own birth because (lucky, lucky me). I got to celebrate my birthday at the beautiful, idyllic place where that painting ended up, and with four of my favorite people.
The final resting place of an artist’s work is out of her hands entirely. So it’s really neat to see one in situ (as they say), wherever the buyer chooses to place it. This one is in a beautiful bedroom in a beautiful house-sized suite in a beautiful garden setting in this lovely resort. Loved revisiting this child of mine, loved seeing my friends, and have to say, loved having a birthday. All great privileges, for which I am grateful.
